What a lovely win-win situation we have put ourselves into! It amazes me how the whole fracas is being portrayed as a win for all the parties involved. I just went through the situation with my own imaginary comb trying to see if I could think up of some interesting (maybe not so true) implications of this historic decision by our all-so-powerful institution. Just my own view of how this effects everyone around the CJ saga.
- The lawyers win because they had been screaming all along that its a false case. But I think the guys who were always cramming themselves onto the stage behind the CJ will miss their 'glory' days, now that its back to the grunge of their daily miserable routines.
- The chief justice certainly wins because he got the verdict in his favor. Although from appearance he looks like an unwilling party to the whole media circus around this case.
- The people win because they were almost sick of watching the chaotic black coat seminars and idiotic speeches made by all sorts of people branding their own agendas while appearing in 'support' of the CJ.
- Jury's still out on Aitezaz Ahsan, because he might've been siding with ppl who wanted a prolonged case. Not just because he bills by the hour, but he gets even more camera coverage than the time when he was a minister. Its almost like Shilpa Shetty, who never made it big in her whole movie career, but got all the sudden focus unexpectedly from Big Brother.
- Karachi is probably feeling giddy with relief, no more 'justice caravans' and lethal stunts by political parties. No more unnecessary bloodshed, but then its Karachi we're talking about, not much will change on the bloodshed front. Politicians will find some other reason to kill each other.
- Police must be finally loosening their belts, they don't need to protect the constitution avenue with marches and sit-ins and friday prayers on pavements. The guy who ordered an attack on the GEO office must be counting the days until he is finally dragged into court.
- Jamaat-e-Islami already has many problems with the crumbling MMA and shake up of the 'grand' illusion of an opposition alliance. So they just sent a messenger boy to the supreme court for the cameras and the sweets. The circus is over, lets find someone else to cheer for.
- George Bush is probably asking around in the white house, "CJ who?"
- MQM is now busy preparing an 'uncovering the truth' report or video behind all the people involved in the 'misguided' verdict. They will probably 'inform' the public very soon about Seeta White's neighbour who apparently was very friendly with someone on the bench.
- Musharraf would be putting on his uniform for another meeting with the CJ. But this time I think it won't be in the Army House.
- GEO would be finding work for their analysts, commentators and reporters who were all extremely busy covering this 'historic' and 'ground breaking' story. I don't think they really gave a s#^t about the actual issue. Its just that conflict sells in todays world.

As for me, I don't really know why we can't find out just who it was who came up with this 'brilliant' plan for the government. I'm now eagerly waiting to see if my 'conspiracy theory' comes true and the CJ makes some of his very first decisions in Musharraf's favor :)
